Title: The X-Files: The Fight for Independence Summary: episode four Note: Now, I'm sure you're anxious to get on with the story. There's no sex, and I find it hard to write sex involving Luke Skywalker. Makes me shudder to think about it. Oh, and there's ONE profanity in this. Earth George Lucas looked out over the Sierra Nevada desert, shading his eyes with his hand. In the distance, along the horizon, a huge, saucer-shaped ship hovered in orbit. Three hours ago, that ship had fired a warning shot at Earth. Then the message had come, through the satellite system, that they were going to invade in three days' time. Now, George had just finished supervising the set-up of a new portal, huge in comparisson with the one in his office back at the ranch. It was twenty feet tall, ten feet wide, surrounded by mirrors speciall designed to reflect the portal at another mirror. The 15-foot-wide mirror in front of the portal was tilted to reflect the open portal through a giant magnifying glass suspended over the metal frame. A generator was attached to the machine, which was set to the same coordinates as the one in his office. The only difference, besides the saize and general set-up, was that this one opened into space. "I hope this works, Luke," George muttered under his breath. It had been the idea of a . . . friend, that he set up this portal. George's technicians had done so in record time. Now, it was time to go back to the ranch and contact the Jedi. Yavin 4 Dantana Skywalker, formerly known as Dana Scully, raised an eyebrow at her husband. "You want me to tech your students? Luke, you know the only Jedi I've trained is my nephew Michael!" Luke Skywalker nodded and took his wife's hand. "They're as much my students as yours." "I dont't-" There was a bright flah and a rock hit the bed between them, narrowly missing Luke's head. They both looked at the wall, where a door-shaped glow was slowly fading. Dana picked up the rock. There was a paper tied to it. "Hm. Primitive, but effective." Luke took the rock from her and removed the paper. After quickly reading through the folded note, he said, "It's from George. He says that some alien civilisation is planning to invade Earth three days from now. "He set up a portal in the desert like I told him to. It should open over Yavin. He wants us to get Leia to send a fleet through." "Leia? But she's so little." Luke looked at his wife. It was a running joke that their daughter was named after Luke's sister. "Dana." "Okay, okay" She thought for a moment. "Today would be the first of July there. They're going to attack on the Fourth." Earth Fox Mulder looked around the room. He's been sent to the White House as representative for the FBI. He'd also been sent as the resident paranormal expert. "If you really want my opinion, call George Lucas." President Harold Marsten looked at his assistant, who jotted down a note to do so. Fox sighed and closed his eyes. To compound current problems, his wife, Michelle, was pregnant, possibly with twins. "I told everyone that we aren't alone," he said to no one in particular. "But no one believed me until they attacked." Marsten looked at Fox. "Well, we believe you now." Coruscant Chief of State Leia Organa Solo looked earnestly at her brother. "I understand, Luke. I'll be with the fleet at Yavin tomorrow afternoon." Luke sighed, relieved, and nodded. That would leave just enough time to brief the entire fleet before the jump to Earth. "Thanks, sis. I'll get Jedi Squadron ready." "Dana isn't going to fight, is she?" Leia asked. Luke smiled. "She wants to. She's an excellent pilot. She'd be an asset." "She could also be a liability," Leia pointed out. "See if you can talk her into being the ambassador between the new Republic and Earth. the twins can go with her or stay with me on the flag ship." Luke nodded again. "I'll see what I can do. See you tmorrow." Leia smiled at her twin. "May the Force be with you." "You, too." The screen blanked out and Leia looked over at Admiral Ackbar. "What do you think?" "Earth would be a definite asset if they joined the Republic," the Mon Calamarian said. "If we helped, they might possibly join." Leia nodded. "Let's get to work." 04 July Fox settled into his chair just as a technician shouted, "They've started the invasion!" *Damn!* Fox thought. *We don't have any way to _stop_ them!* Masten looked at Fox. "I called Lucas like you said, Agent Mulder. All he said was, 'No ICBMs.' Do you know why?" Fox shook his head. "No, sir. But I hope George knows what he's doing." The president did, too. Yavin 4 "But I don't *want* to be 'Ambassador Skywalker'!" Dana protested, trailing behind Luke as he walked to his X-Wing. Luke stopped and laughed. "I know, D, but I think it'd be safer for you and the children, as well as our unborn tyke. Leia thinks it'd be best if you and the twins were planet-side." Dana sighed. "Okay, you win. Good thing I put on my best robes. Where did you get the word 'tyke'?" "Sorry, too much time around George." Luke, on an impulse, dropped his helmet and pulled Dana into his arms. After kissing her, he said, "I promise I'll meet you at the White House." Earth Fox twisted his wedding band and thought of his wife, mother, and sister, Samantha, who'd returned just days before. The head of the Department of Defense walked in. "Our satellites are picking up some sort of interference." Pres. Marsten nodded. Fox suddenly thought of George. George looked up into the sky. Taking a deep breath and praying silently to whatever diety listened, he hit the switch to turn on the portal. Beside him, a young, tall, blonde Jedi Knight waited patiently. Yavin 4 Luke looked through the transparisteel of his cockpit and saw a shimmering swirl of color, almost the size of the jungle moon, open in front of the fleet. He felt himself smile. Good ol' George. "New Republic fleet, this is Jedi Leader. On my mark, jump into that vortex." On the New Republic flag ship, Dana reached up and touched the cross at her throat. Luke's voice came through clearly. "NOW!" Earth "Mr. President! upwards of a hundred ships just appeared beyond orbit. They seem to be attacking the invaders!" Marsten glanced over at Fox. "Get us a satellite feed!" In moments, they were watching as hundreds of ships appeared through an iridescent haze just beyond the moon. Fox got to his feet. "George, you've really outdone yourself this time." The image flickered and changed to that of a pretty brunette woman in flowing white robes. "Citizens of Earth, I am New Republic Chief of State Organa Solo. We received a . . . distress call, and we'd like to help." The president nodded to his assistant, who waved him in front of the dark blue curtain with the Presidential seal. The cameraman turned on the video camera. Marsten cleared his throat. "Madame Chief of State, I don't know who sent the signal, but I believe I can speak for the rest of Earth when I say, please join us." Leia smiled. Marsten could see her in the TV across the room. "We're happy to help. We've sent an ambassador to the surface. She should arrive at your capitol in a few moments." Fox suddenly had a very bad feeling about this. Dana stepped off the ramp of the Millennium Falcon onto the grass of the White House lawn, children in tow. Behind her came Jacen and Jaina Solo. Han Solo stuck his head out. "Have fun, kiddos. Be back in a while." As the Falcon lifted off again, the doors to the White House opened and people came running out. Dana spotted Fox and froze. "Daddy," Leia Katrael said, thumb in mouth, then corrected herself. "No, not Daddy. Daddy's flying a plane." Dana almost laughed. "That's right, honey. not Daddy." President Marsten stepped forward. "I take it you're the ambassador?" "That's right, Mr. President. I am Dantana Skywalker, Jedi Knight." "How did you know I'm the president?" Marsten asked, surprised. "She's my ex-wife," Fox said. "Her real name is Dana Katherine Scully Skywalker." Hours later, hours spent teaching her niece and nephew English, the Falcon again landed on the front lawn. Han, Luke, and Leia, followed by the two droids and Chewbacca, disembarked. A shuttle landed next to it and Admiral Ackbar stepped out. They were all admitted into the White House and met in the Oval Office. The president had a hard time taking it all in. "I'd really like Mr. Lucas to explain all this," Marsten muttered, glancing at his wife, Gail. "I will, as soon as everyone's quiet," a voice said from the dorrway. Everyone turned to see George standing there, a young Jedi at his side. "No wonder George spent so much time in England!" Dana said, staring, shocked, at the yound knight. George smiled. "But before any explanations, I'd like you all to meet William Windsor, King of England, and Jedi Knight." end Continues with
