Summary: Scully deals with Rocky Bronzino in a wonderful way.

As the phone rang for the millionth time, Scully groaned and shifted William, who was still wide-awake. Rocky Bronzino would not give up. She didn't know how many other ways to tell him she wasn't interested. She'd given him the 'Ice Queen' treatment that she was famous for at the Bureau, she'd hinted that she was taken; she'd blatantly ignored him, and none of it had worked.

On her cell phone, Scully had blocked his number, and when that didn't work, she even went as far as to change her cell phone number. Then he got a hold of her home number and wouldn't cease calling. No amount of her telling him she wasn't interested would get him to stop, and finally she got the phone company to block his home number. That was when he started calling from pay phones.

"Look Rocky, I'll tell you this again. I am not interested in you in any way, shape, or form. I'll ask one more time for you to stop calling. If you do not, I can press charges. Now, you're keeping me and my son awake." Scully paused.

"Dr. Scully, give me a chance."

"Dr. Bronzino, I've told you this before, but you obviously weren't listening. I am a mother. My child has a father, and I am faithful to his father. Got that?" Without waiting for an answer, Scully slammed the phone down and pressed her lips to William's forehead. "Come on sweetie, let's see if we can get you to sleep."

William shoved his fist into his mouth and Scully smiled, sitting down on the couch. She settled him so that his head rested in the crook of one elbow and his feet kicked at the other. In a soft voice, Scully began to sing. Finally, William stilled in her arms and his eyes fluttered shut in sleep. Scully stood and carried him into her bedroom, settling her precious bundle down in his crib. Scully reached down and ran her fingers over his downy head. She'd just tucked the blanket around her son when the phone rang again. She sighed, assuming it was Rocky again.

"Rocky, what the hell did I say? The answer is no. It will continue to be no."

"Scully it's me."

"Frohike? What's wrong? Is it Mulder?" Scully asked quickly.

"No, no, no. Everything's fine. You mind if we come over? We've got new equipment we'd like to install tonight."

"It has to be tonight? I just put William down for the night."

"We'll be quick, and quiet too. It's filtering equipment. It'll make your phone line more secure."

"Okay, come on over." Scully relented.

"Thanks Scully."

"Now if you could make a Rocky Bronzino filter." She mumbled.

The guys only stayed for about twenty minutes, and installed their new devices. As soon as the left, the phone rang again. Scully picked it up warily.

"Shh, just listen." A voice whispered.

"Rocky?" Scully asked.

"Who's Rocky?"

"Oh this is low. Rocky, leave me alone."

"Scully, it's me. Mulder."

"Mulder! You shouldn't be calling, it's not safe."

"Yeah it is. Why do you think I waited until the gunmen installed their stuff? Now who's Rocky?"

"The entomologist that I worked with on my last case. He seems to be infatuated with me, and now he won't leave me alone. I've got it under control." Scully hastened to add.

Mulder chuckled. "How's William?"

"Asleep finally. He's gotten so big. I wish you were here to see him."

"I wish I was there too." There was a silence and Scully chuckled almost nervously. "I almost forgot what your voice sounded like."

Scully opened her mouth to speak and William let out a wail and Scully took the phone with her into the bedroom, eager to comfort her son. After a few minutes of trying, Scully got an idea and put the phone by William's ear. Mulder started to talk and William settled and cooed before drifting off in Scully's arms.

"Good work Dad."

"I try. Scully, what's it been like there recently?"

"What do you mean?"

"You and William, you haven't been approached by anyone, or threatened by anyone recently, have you?"

"No. Not since a few days after you left."

"And you're okay?"

"Yes. We're fine."

"You're sure?"

"Yes Mulder. What's all this about?"

"Nothing Scully. I was just worried. I need to go. I'll call you soon."

"You better." Scully hesitated, wanting to say more. "I love you." She managed to whisper.

"I love you too Scully. Please don't forget that."

"I could never."

With that he hung up and Scully squeezed her eyes shut, trying to hold in the emotions that wanted so desperately to escape. She didn't hang up the phone until she heard the dial tone turn into the recorded message asking her to hang up. Taking a deep breath, she brushed a kiss across her precious son's head and settled him back down. She stood over his crib for a few minutes before getting ready for bed and settling in for sleep.

Thankfully, William slept through the night, and Scully didn't wake until she felt the warm sun covering her face. She heard silence and reacted quickly, looking for William. The baby wasn't in his crib. Scully tore the bedroom door open and almost ran straight into Mulder. Her panic decreased when she saw William squirming against Mulder's shoulder, with his hand shoved almost entirely in his mouth.

As quickly as her relief came, she was gripped with fear. Mulder couldn't be home. It wasn't safe. Why had he returned? Was it really Mulder? She took on a defensive stance and looked around for a way to get the baby from him.

Mulder must have sensed her thoughts, because he spoke quietly. "Easy G-Woman. It's me. Here, see for yourself." He turned and lowered his collar slightly, allowing her to see a smooth expanse of neck and shoulder blade. She reached out a hand and ran her fingers over his skin. It was Mulder.

"Mulder, what the hell are you doing here? You shouldn't be back! It's unsafe. You know that!"

"Scully, let me explain. It's you and William who are in danger. Not me. Kersh lied to separate us. That's why last night I asked if everything had been okay."

"I don't understand. How did you find this out?"

"Billy Miles."

"He came to see me. Told me that Knowle Rohrer was still alive and very possibly after you. He told me that Kersh lied to get me out of town."

"How do you know you can trust him?"

"You trusted Kersh." He countered. "Billy and the others left you alone when they very easily could have harmed you, or William. I trust him more than I trust Kersh. I can't take the chance that he's telling me the truth, and not be here."

Without speaking, Scully leaned into him, wrapping her arms around his waist and burrowing her face into his chest.

Mulder pressed his lips into her hair and breathed deeply, thinking about how much he'd missed the closeness. He chuckled when William tousled his mother's hair with a gentle kick from his socked foot. Scully smiled and raised her face.

"How long has he been awake?" Scully asked, taking William from Mulder. She smiled and cooed to her son, giving him small kisses on the nose.

"Only a few minutes. I closed the door so he wouldn't wake you."

"Thank you." Scully gave William a gentle kiss on his head and passed him back to Mulder.

Mulder set William down in his crib before pulling Scully into his arms. One hand tangled in her hair as they crushed their lips together. One kiss turned into more than they wanted to count and Scully broke away, dazed.

"I'm glad you're home."

"Me too." Mulder bent to kiss her again. "Now tell me again. Who the hell is Rocky, and what can I do to get him out of your hair?"

Scully smiled and pulled away, picking William back up. "He's a pain in the ass, but harmless. Eventually he'll give up."

"What's he done?"

Scully told him, and Mulder shook his head. "That's not harmless, Scully. Not with the danger that you could be in."

"I guess not. In the beginning, it was somewhat flattering. It's been a long time since anyone's taken an interest in me. But now, he's very annoying."

"That's all I needed to hear." Mulder kissed her.

"Why? What are you going to do?"

"Nothing." He swore.

"Sure." She snorted, leading him into the living room, finding telltale evidence of his night on the couch. "You could have joined me you know."

"I know, I didn't want to wake you." He pulled her down with him, wrapping his arms around her possessively. She leaned back and smiled as William whimpered, obviously hungry.

"I didn't know if you were still nursing or not, so I didn't feed him."

"It's okay. I'm nursing in the morning and at night, but he gets pumped stuff during the day when I'm at work." Scully stopped, realizing she was probably babbling.

"I'll go make breakfast while you feed him." Mulder released her and got to him feet when Scully gripped his hand.

"No, stay. I'm alright with it." Scully smiled and unbuttoned her nightshirt to nurse. After a few minutes, Mulder reached out a hand and touched William's fist.

"Lucky devil." He mumbled jokingly. "What I wouldn't give to be in your position."

"Virgin ears Mulder." Scully teased. Mulder leaned over and snagged Scully's lips just as the doorbell rang.

"I'll get it." Mulder pulled away.

"No, you can't. Nobody can know that you're here. For now." Scully disconnected William's hold on her nipple and shushed him as he started to cry. "Sorry baby boy. We'll finish as soon as we see who's at the door." Scully passed William to his father while she cleaned herself up. She took the baby back, and bounced him lightly, trying to calm him. He continued to scream as Scully opened the door irritably. Her irritation grew when she saw who it was.

"Dr. Scully." He grinned, making Scully want to shoot him.

"Dr. Bronzino, what are you doing here?" she asked coolly, wishing he would take the hint.

"I came to see if you're interested in lunch. Is that your son? Well hey fella, what's the matter?"

"This is my son." Scully paused when she felt Mulder come up behind her. "And this is his father." Scully got an idea. "Mulder, would you mind taking care of Dr. Bronzino while I go take care of William?"

"Course not." Mulder gave Scully a possessive kiss. After she moved into the bedroom he straightened and saw that he had at least an inch on the doctor and was far better built. "Can I help you?" he asked, staring the doctor down. He beckoned him inside only to grab Bronzino by the lapels and slam him up against the door.

"You stay away from her. Don't call, don't write, don't even mysteriously show up in the same restaurant as her. Or you're answering to me. You got it?" When Bronzino didn't answer, Mulder shoved him harder. "Did I not make myself clear? One call and you could be under arrest for harassing a federal officer. You stay away from my family." Mulder enunciated through gritted teeth. With a final push, Mulder released Rocky.

"I guess that's a no to lunch."

"That's a no to everything. Go," Mulder ordered, releasing Rocky, who scrambled for the doorknob and stumbled out into the hall.

Once Rocky was gone, Mulder made his way into the bedroom. He gave Scully a small smile as she looked up from her gaze down at William, who was still sucking frantically at her breast.

"He won't be back."

"Did you hurt him?" Scully asked, amusement evident in her voice. Mulder was reminded of another time when she'd asked him that. Right before they went to Oregon, before his abduction, before she found out that she was pregnant with William, before he had to leave the two of them simply to keep them safe, only to find out that they were in more danger without him. Mulder shook himself away from that thought and focused back on Scully.

"Nahh just scared him."

"I see that he's happy now." Mulder settled beside her on the bed. He reached out and tickled one of William's feet.

"He's a good boy. A little demanding, but that he gets from his father." Scully smiled.

"So tell me about this case. Where you met the good doctor."

Scully told him and it left him chuckling. Grinning, he kissed her softly.

"What was that for?" She inquired.

"Giving me the chance to get rid of him." Mulder reclined, tugging her by the waist so that he could wrap his arms around her like a child clutching a teddy bear. She smiled tenderly and reached down, running one hand through his hair. William squirmed in her arms, finally done with his morning meal.

"Do you want Daddy now? Is that it?" Scully smiled and wiped herself up before sliding down into Mulder's arms, not bothering to fix her clothes. She settled William against her shoulder and patted his back as Mulder kissed her ear.

"I'm glad you're not trading me in for a better, more stable model." Mulder smiled into her hair.

"Mulder, Rocky practically got off on working with bugs, how stable is that? Besides, nothing about him is better. Not even his first name," she teased.

"Don't be mean to me Scully." Mulder kissed her temple.

"You're positive that it's safe to be home?" she asked worriedly.

"No. But it was more unsafe to be away."

"I shouldn't have let you talk to Rocky. What if he goes to the police? We don't need that type of publicity for you, or for me."

"He won't. Because then he'd have to explain why I roughed him up. I doubt he wants 'stalking' to go on his record."

"You're sure?"

"Yes. Don't worry." Mulder assured.

"I can't help it," Scully whispered, finding tears in her eyes. Mulder brushed them away and tucked her and the baby into his arms. Mulder ran his hands over her hair, and Scully surrendered herself to sleep, hoping that when she woke, the world might seem better now that she and Mulder were together again.
