Monica's Motivation Challenge

I recently read a post-revival article that speculated that John Doggett not being a part of the revival and Monica Reyes working for CSM were connected, mainly that perhaps Doggett had been taken hostage in order to force her to work with the smoking man. Eh. I think I have a better idea...

Your challenge is to write a story in which a child is Monica's motive for apparently switching sides between The Truth and My Struggle III. Perhaps the child has been kidnapped, or threatened. Perhaps it's her own child or merely one she cares about. By the end of your story, leave readers with the sense that they understand how this boy or girl prompted her willingness to work with CSM.
