Your
challenge is to write a crossover fic in which your/one of your child
characters has a friend from another fandom. When she or he says that
you don’t know their friend because they “don’t go to our school” they
really, really mean it :)
Your second fandom can be any story/series that involves a significant child character (like The Shining or Game of Thrones, for example), not just those that are children’s books/movies/comics/TV shows.
You can approach this crossover in two ways:
First,
your child character can be the offspring/other relative - canon or
otherwise - of an X-Files character, or a child involved in an X-File.
Second, you could instead have an X-Files character themselves be the child who makes a friend from another fandom.
Special Note: your humble archivist requests that would-be writers responding to this
challenge not stress out too much about matching up the timelines of
the X-Files and the second fandom. If you want to write a story that
includes Meg and Charles Wallace Murry from Wind In the Door, you
are not restricted to setting your story in the early 1960s and having
to pick Skinner as your X-Files child because he’s the proper age at
that timepoint (but if someone wants to, do have at it). Movie and TV
adaptations, including of that very story, rejigger timelines
frequently, so why can’t you too?
