Storm Warning Challenge

Today is the start of the annual hurricane season, but we know that's only one danger mother nature can dish out...

Your challenge is to write a story where an adult X-Files character is caught up in a natural disaster scenario with her or his child|ren. This character must be the only parent navigating the situation with their child|ren for at least 2/3rds of your tale: if the parent is not unmarried, they can of course reunite with their co-parent towards the end of your story.

Choose one of the following weather or other natural disasters to thrust your family into the midst of.

Weather events:

• Hurricane
• Blizzard
• Tornado
• Flooding due to anything from simple but relentless rain to monsoon
• Tsunami
• Ice storm

Or a natural disaster of a non-weather kind:

• Wild fire
• Earthquake
• Volcano
• Kaiju attack (think Godzilla, King Kong, Cloverfield, Pacific Rim etc.)

Note: you are not limited to the natural disaster being the only problem your X-parent is coping with. If you'd like there to be a medical emergency, a hostage situation, a kidnapping etc. too, you are more than welcome to compound their problems.
