I Think You're Our Mother challenge

Your challenge is to write a story in which this happens:

One day there's a knock on the door, and Scully opens it. Standing there she finds two^* people. One of the people is at minimum a young teenager and can be as old as a young adult, if it suits you. The other person is a child no older than ten years old. They're both strangers to her^** and she offers them a polite smile as she waits for an explanation of what they need.

Her smile slips when the older of her young guests says “I think you're our mother.”

And then what happens? You tell us!

 ^* well, at least two people. There can be more, be it additional surprise offspring or an adult accompanying them that she may or may not know

^** she can, however, have seen them somewhere before
