The Returned Child Challenge

Your challenge is to write a story about a child who had been taken from their family…temporarily.

This child, who can be any age from toddler to eighteen upon return, eventually shows up at the family home after having been missing for at minimum a year.

Give their kidnapping an X-Files flavor and an X-Files character's interest in their case.
