Ground Rules:

The idea for this new challenge pack is to elicit short fics from the prompts, but if you feel the need to write something longer, you’re allowed to.

Choose one prompt to write about, or tackle them all.

Write story about a dad. This dad can be any male character from the X-Files from Mulder, Skinner, and Doggett to Jackson, Krycek, the LGM, Bill Mulder or CSM.

I. The Blow Out

No one ever said fatherhood would be easy. Or clean. Write a ficlet about a dad tackling a blow out diaper when he’s alone with his baby son or daughter. There is baby poop everywhere. Even in someone’s hair. And Mom’s not due home for hours.

II. Weekend Dad

His relationship with his child’s mother hasn’t worked out. Write a ficlet about a dad dropping off or picking up their young child for the weekend

III. Shopping for Mommy

In this prompt things are working out between the couple, and it’s almost her birthday, Mother’s Day, or Christmas. Write a ficlet about a dad bringing their child(ren) shopping for their gift to her

IV. Bedtime

Mom’s home too, but on this particular night the little one only wants their daddy. Write a ficlet about a dad putting their child to bed.

V. Fieldtrip

Babies grow up fast, and in a blink they’re ready for school. And what’s the best part about school? Fieldtrips! Write a ficlet about a dad accompanying their preschool to fourth-grade age child on a class trip. Give him a small group of other children to supervise too.

VI. Sick

Something vile is really going around, and everyone’s down for the count. Or almost everyone. Write a ficlet about a dad being the only one who isn’t sick, and his efforts to care for everyone else in the household.
