Author's Note: In this story, Melissa's alive.

"What the..?" Fox Mulder looked up to see Dana Scully wearing a heavily starched, button-down tuxedo shirt with black studs and diamond cufflinks and a white skirt. His jaw dropped when he saw the outfit. "Scully, you look---"

"I look what?" Scully inquired, puzzled.

"I'd never seen you wear that outfit... You always wear suits..." He couldn't get over seeing her in that outfit. "It's too..."

"Too what?"

"It's not like what you wear..."

"It got your attention, didn't it?" She laughed, and then, gave Mulder a small smile. "It's an awful thing, but my Mom got this for my birthday. I'd never worn it, but she kept complaining to me that she hasn't seen me in that damn outfit. So I decided to wear it..." She sighed. "It's not the kind of outfit that I would pick out, you know."

"Your Mom bought this for you?"

Scully nodded. "It's dumb, isn't it?"

"It's just not you, Scully..."

"Don't I know that, Mulder? I hate this thing. I can't wait until I go home to get out of this outfit..."

After work, Scully drove to her Georgetown apartment. She got out of her car, and walked towards it. All she wanted to do was get out of the damn outfit and put something more relaxing. With a frown, she turned the key to unlock her apartment door. She sighed. She looked down to see a strange box. The box had brown mailing paper on it, and a string which was tied in a neat bow.

"What's this?" Scully asked herself. In wonderment, she had no idea who mail her anything. It wasn't her birthday. "What could this be?" She picked up the box to inspect it. She noted that the label had no return address, but all it said was her name and address. "I hope it's not a bomb..." She walked into her apartment, and put the box down on her kitchen table.

She ripped the brown wrapping paper to reveal ballet toe shoes. "I wonder who sent this..." She noticed within the packing material that there was a note:

"Dear Dana,
I saw these ballet shoes last week, and I remembered how much you loved ballet when we were little. I hope that you get a kick out of them...

A phone rang, and Scully hurried to pick it up. "Scully."

"Did you receive it?" Melissa asked.

"Melissa! I don't dance ballet!"

"Oh come on, Dana, you love ballet..." She paused. "Did you wear that outfit that Mom bought for you?"

"Unfortunately, yes."

"What happened?"

"Let's just say that Mulder noticed it..."

"That's good, isn't it?" Melissa asked, curious. "You told me how you like him..."

"You didn't say anything to Mulder when I was in a coma, did you?"

"Of course not. It's not my place," Melissa answered, with a frown. She paused. "You should tell him, Dana."

"Tell him what?"

"That you love him..."

"Dana, you should. Life's short. You've got to live for the moment..."

Scully nodded. "I know." She paused. "Thanks for the ballet shoes... I guess that I'll wear them..." *Like never.* She paused. "I'll talk to you later, Missy." She put the phone down, and decided to take off her trenchcoat.

When she was hanging her trenchcoat in the hallway closet, she heard the telephone rang. She picked up the phone, and answered in her most professional tone. "Scully."

"It's me."

"Mulder, what's wrong?"

"Oh, nothing. I'm sitting here at my apartment, and I just wanted to talk to you..."

"Are you bored?"

"I was just going to watch a movie that I rented a couple of days ago..."

"The three day rental deal?"

"What movie?"

"It's called "Great Expectations"... You know the recent one?" Scully asked, as she heard something from outside.

"With Gwyneth Paltrow?" Mulder inquired, as he got up to turn off the vinyl album of the Sex Pistols called, "Never Mind the Bullocks Here's The Sex Pistols."

"Yeah," Scully replied, in a distracted tone. She peeked at the window to see if there was anything out there. "I thought that I saw something..."

"What?" Mulder's voice was full of concern for his partner. He paused. "Do you want me to come over?"

"I'm sure that I can handle this, but I think that I better. Maybe you can see the movie with me... I'll make the popcorn..."

With a grin, Mulder loved the idea of being with Scully. "That sounds like fun. I'll talk to you later, Scully." He put down the receiver, and his smile deepened as he thought about his good luck. *Scully wants me as much as I want her.*

Mulder wasn't the only one who wanted Scully as he found out when he approached her apartment. By her window, he could see a flock of vampires flocking around, as they were watching her every move. They were peeking through the window, waiting for the right opportunity to attack...

Mulder gave them a dirty look, and decided to save her from the attack. But how? There were five of them...and he knew that he was outnumbered. He was scared, but decided not to show it. He summoned up the courage to protect Scully. He had to protect her from the vampires. Ever since Scully's abduction, he vowed that nothing would ever harm her again. Briskly, he went to her apartment door and rang the door bell.

Scully opened the door, and she was wearing her satin, nightshirt. "Mulder, thanks for coming. Was there an intruder?"

Mulder nodded. "More like five of 'em. They're vampires, Scully..." Skeptically, Scully threw Mulder a look. He continued. "Really."

"How do you know that?" Scully asked, as she arched her eyebrows in wonderment.

"They want to make you one of their own by biting your neck. That's how. They waiting at your window just like Duane Barry!"

"Mulder, you're imagining something that isn't there..."

"Scully, I saw them... They want to attack you." Mulder peeked out of her window---the same window where Duane Barry broke the glass---and he saw nothing. There wasn't anything there. "Maybe it was my imagination..."

"I don't doubt you, Mulder. I'm sure you saw something, but when I peeked through the window, I didn't see anything... It must have been a breeze or something..."

"Can we fastforward to the scene by the water fountain?"

"You mean with the boy and girl?" Scully inquired, as he nodded. "All right." She went to her VCR, and fastforwarded it to the scene. "Why do you like this scene?"

"I don't know. I just do..." He saw her frown. "What's wrong?"

"Oh... I don't know... I'm not having a good day. First the tuxedo shirt... Melissa sent me ballet toe shoes thinking that I'll be a ballerina or something... Then, you told me that I'll be attacked by a flock of vampires. I'm having the most strangest night that I'd ever had... All I'm wondering is: what's next?"

"This." Mulder pulled Scully towards him for an embrace. He felt the warmth of Scully's lips on his, and then, their lips locked in a passionate kiss. Afterwards, he gently fingered her auburn hair and stroked her back lovingly.

In a low voice, Scully murmured. "You've made my night."

"I know." He paused. "Now, how was your day?"

"It turned out great..."
