Dana Scully's Apartment

Going through the mail Dana Scully found an invitation to an Halloween Party: the printed card had no sender so probably it had been sent to everyone in town. She didn't care. She really loved those parties. She never lost one. On those occasions she could abandon her serious working clothes and pretend to be someone else. It was so much fun! She already knew what she would wear!

Fox Mulder's Apartment

Fox Mulder in his jogging outfit entered the building where he lived and collected his mail. He went quickly through it, separating important stuff from rubbish. He got to an invitation to an Halloween Party. Not my stuff. He discarded it and went to the bathroom to take a shower.

With a towel around his hips he sat on his couch and switched on the TV. I should really get a life... Perhaps, you could start from that party? said a little voice inside his head. Yeah, I could. He grinned watching the TV set which had just given him an idea.

Basement Office
Halloween Eve

At work neither Mulder nor Scully talked about the party and the fact that they were going. They preferred to keep it to themselves.

"Mulder, let's call it a day...I've got to meet my Mom in a quarter of an hour downtown."

"OK Scully, I'm busy too...Let's go."

They put on their coats and left the office.

"See you on Monday, have a nice weekend," Mulder said.

"You too," she answered closing her car door.

Scully headed to the costumes shop where she had booked her outfit. She wanted to be sure to have it and with the incoming party you never knew. She had tried two days ago when she had booked it and it fitted just fine. So she needed only to ask for it and take it away. She also took a blond wig with the longest hair.

The shop assistant brought her the costume an asked her "Are you going to the Halloween Party at the Plaza?"

Yeah," she answered with a smile.

"I'm sure you'll have fun with this outfit a gorgeous guy rented the male counterpart half an hour ago. Probably you'll meet him at the party. Good luck!"

"Thanks!" Dana Scully took her costume and left.

At home she ate something light in order not to starve in case there wasn't food at the party.

Then after a shower she began her transformation, she donned the tight emerald green satin breeches and the white flowing blouse leaving undone few buttons under her throat. She tied the black cummerbund at her waist and put on the black mask which disguised her features enough to make her unrecognizable. Finally she adjusted the wig on her head and secured the fake sword at her waist.

She looked at her reflection and was satisfied with her appearance. The blonde staring at her was a provoking creature, a beautiful pirate from another time in the past. She slipped on the high heeled black boots that completed the outfit, put on her coat and left.

Fox Mulder couldn't believe he was going to wear that outfit. He didn't know what had possessed him to rent it, No, it wasn't true...he knew it: he had always been fascinated by pirates and privateers. His costume consisted of tight black breeches, black boots and a white shirt. At his waist he had a red cummerbund and a red bandanna covered his hair. He donned his mask which covered his features to a level that he hardly recognized himself. Fake brown pointed beard and thin mustache completed the ensemble. He grinned at his reflection.

This will be fun!

Hotel Plaza
Washington DC

When Scully arrived at the entrance of the hotel she saw a long queue of people waiting to enter the building. She wondered if the hall was big enough for all those people. Eventually came her turn and she got in, she left her coat at the wardrobe and then wandered around to take in her surroundings.

Fox Mulder arrived at the hotel ten minutes later when the queue was already diminishing. He was inside in five minutes. After leaving his coat at the wardrobe he headed towards the buffet, he was starved! He ate something carefully avoiding to misplace his mustache then, his hunger quelled, he began to look at the other guests. There where all sorts of costumes, from historic characters to alien humanoids, to monsters of every possible shape. There where also animals and even objects (a candy, a cake, a teapot, and so on).

He spotted a petite blonde whose hair wasn't long enough to cover a rounded bottom and two shapely legs. Judging by her breeches and high boots she seemed to be his character female counterpart. He moved towards her.

Dana Scully turned around slowly and saw a tall dark pirate coming towards her. The gorgeous guy from the costumes shop? Surely he's got a gorgeous body!

His muscular legs were encased in his tight breeches and his shirt was open to the waist revealing a sinewy and lightly furred chest. The man exuded sensuality from every pore. He stopped in front of her and smiled, his full lips inviting kisses.

"It seems that I've found the woman for me milady" he told her in a low charming voice.

Scully nearly jumped, she would recognize that voice among a thousand...Fox Mulder was standing in front of her. She wouldn't have recognized him if he hadn't spoken. She decided immediately to play with him. "Don't be so sure, sir, I'm quite independent!" she answered in a rough, counterfeited voice.

"What's your name?"

"Alexa," she said "What's yours?"

"Fox."

She couldn't believe her hears, he had told her his first name! He didn't want Scully to call him Fox, but he was ready to let a complete stranger do so! She tried to contain her anger and told him, "An unusual name."

"As yours...but it suits you."

"Thanks."

The music was playing and many strange couples were dancing on the floor. A slow song began.

"Do you wanna dance?" he asked her with a bow.

"Yeah, why not." She gave him one of her killer smiles.

They joined the other couples and began to dance. He took her in his arms and basked in the pleasure of holding her soft body against his. From his advantageous position he could see the deep vee between her breasts inside her blouse. Ivory skin, sweet scented. Something in this woman felt familiar.

Her scent, the blue eyes watching him through the mask, her lips. He gave himself a mental shake. You see Dana Scully everywhere! She's your obsession!

She leaned her head on his shoulder. She had wanted for so long to be in that exact position with him holding her close. She was happy, the shop assistant had been right.

The mysterious woman wore a wig, he wondered what was her true hair color. Perhaps red? Fox Mulder, stop it now! She's not Dana Scully, but she's beautiful and you like her...move on!

The song trailed off and a rock began. He didn't want to release her so he took her to a sofa which was isolated from the crowd. They sat facing each other. "You remind me of my partner." He regretted the words instantly but it was too late.

"Really? Do you like her?" she inquired with a little smile.

"I love her," he admitted. Why was he revealing his utmost secret to a stranger? Perhaps because he felt awkwardly close to this woman. He felt a link with her, they could be friend. But she was staring at him openmouthed.

"Is something wrong?" he asked her concerned.

He loved her? It couldn't be! He had never given her any hint of his feelings for her. She thought her love for him would always be one way. She felt an immense joy overcome her, but she felt guilt all the same. He had opened his hearth to her thinking she was another woman. She had fooled him. The guilt subsided quickly, after all she reciprocated his feelings so he wouldn't regret his confession!

"Fox, I love you too," she told him in her usual voice.

"Dana, is it you?" he was dumbfounded. Was he imagining things?

"Yes, Fox, I recognized you immediately by your voice and decided to have some fun at your expense, but after what you have just told me I can't and don't want to pretend to be someone else!" she explained.

"I liked your other self a lot but couldn't bring myself to betray you.

You've stolen my heart!" he grinned at her relieved. He had risked a lot but he had been lucky.

"Take me to your ship, Fox, and tie me to your bunk!" she half joked.

They left the party in a hurry.
