Why did I let Anna talking me into going? Scully thought glumly. She's never gonna stop fixing me up. Scully had gotten roped into going to this party by her neighbor, Anna. Anna loved fixing Dana up, and Scully hated being fixed up. They had arrived at the party 15 minutes earlier, Anna as a french maid, of all things, and Scully as a Goth. The goth motif had been Anna's idea. ~*~*~ Two days earlier: "C'mon, Dana! You could so pull off the Goth thing!" Anna had proclaimed. "I'm not deep enough!" Scully had replied. "And isn't it a masked party? How am I supposed to be a Goth and wear a mask?" "You goop your eyes up with black eye liner, black lipstick, and go out and find a hideously grotesque black mask!" Anna explained. ~*~*~ Present Day Scully had parked herself by the punch bowl and sipped a cup of 'blood.' A man walked up to her and smiled. "Hey, Scully," he said. "How'd you know it was me?" Scully asked. "How many people have red hair that color?" Mulder asked, flipping a little bit of her hair for effect. "And what are you doing here?" Scully asked, looking over his costum. Just like Mulder. He had come in an Executioner's costume, the head cover completely covering his face. "I came to tell you something," Mulder turned around and got a cup of punch. "You came all the way out here to tell me something? Why'd you get dressed up?" Scully asked. "I couldn't have come without a costume!" "You could have come in a suit and said you were an FBI Agent," Scully replied. "Whatever, anyway, are you having a good time?" "Not really." "Good! We're gonna leave then!" Mulder took Scully's hand and lead her to the door. She knew better than to fight so she went along. "I just heard these people were out in the forest out here, presumably to do something unsuitable for the party if you know what I mean, and saw a ghost. Then they went inside and told some people and apparently, there are ghost sightings every Halloween night in these woods." Mulder had taken Scully to the edge of the forest just behind the house. "Ooo, I'm scared. C'mon Mulder. That's a load of crap!" Scully said taking her mask off. "A little heavy on the eyeliner weren't we?" Mulder asked, after seeing her makeup. "Wasn't my idea. So what are we dong here?" Scully asked. "We're going to find the ghost!" Mulder started into the woods. Scully followed him into the woods, barley keeping him in sight as her almost ran through the woods. "Mulder!" Scully called. She had lost sight of him in his eagerness to find the 'ghost.' "Mulder, where are you?!?" She looked around. She turned around a few times. She realized she had turned around so many times, she didn't know which way the house was. "Shit!" she cried. "Mulder?!" There was a cracking sound just behind her. She whirled around. There was another view of forest, but nothing else. She started to back away, a chill ran down her spin and she shuddered. There was another twig snapping behind her. She turned toward the sound. Nothing. She was beginning to get scared. "Mulder!" she cried out as loud as she could. "He's gone," a melodious voice said from behind her. Scully whirled around. There was a woman standing in front of her. Her pale skin was caked with dirt and deep cuts, and her long flowing white dress what splattered with blood and speckles of mud. Scully was so scared she couldn't move, her eyes wide and staring. "He went back to the house. He left you out here for me." "W-w-what do want?" Scully choked out. The woman cocked her head. "Mulder!!!" Scully called out. "He's gone. He went back to the house. He left you here for me," the woman repeated. "What does that mean?!?" Scully asked. "I want you to run," the woman replied, using the same voice. "Run?" Scully looked around trying to decide which way to run. "I want you to run." Run, run, run, run! Scully thought. She turned on her heals and ran as fast as she could. Run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run! Scully chanted to herself. She looked over her shoulder. The woman was gone. Scully tripped over a log. She slowly picked herself up, and brushed herself off. She looked around. She had to run. She walked along until she came to a graveyard. A graveyard? On someone's property? She thought. She looked at the headstone of the nearest grave. It read: 1636 Unholy grave A witch dwells here Scully moved onto the next grave. It read the same thing. And the next. The fourth was the same, but the date read 1621. She got a chill down her spine again. Unholy Grave rang though her head. She wandered further into the graveyard until she found a freshly dug grave. Nearly nine feet deep as apposed to the usual six. She stared down into the grave. No one could get out. Scully thought. It's too deep for anyone to get out. "You found your place," the woman said behind Scully. Scully turned. "You're time has come." The woman reached out and pushed Scully into the grave. "Scully!!" Mulder cried, running to the grave's side. "Who are you?!?" "Welcome to the Beginning of the End," the woman said and disappeared. Mulder laid down on the ground and reached down to Scully's limp body. It started to rain. It slowly became a torrential down pour as Mulder ran thoughts through his mind of how to get Scully out. Scully slowly opened her eyes. She realized she was lying in mud and stood up. "Scully!" Mulder called down to her. She looked up. "Try to get out!" Scully jumped up and tried to grab the edge of the grave, but didn't even come close. "C'mon, Scully!" Mulder reached down to her as she jumped up. Their fingers touched but couldn't grab on. Scully dug the toe of her shoe into the side of the grave and hoisted herself up. She reached up for Mulder's hand, but couldn't get a good grip in the rain. "I can't get a good grip! The ground is too soft!" Scully called up to him. "Try again!" Scully dug her foot into the mushy ground and jumped up to his arm. She succeeded in grabbing his wrist and he pulled with all his strength. She slowly emerged from the ground and collapsed next to him on the ground. "You got out," the woman's voice said. It seemed to surround them. They both looked around. "You weren't supposed to get out." The ground they laid on began to sink like it had become too saturated. Mulder and Scully quickly moved off it. It sank to the dept to the adjoining grave. "Now you'll die by my hand." Mulder got up and pulled Scully to her feet. "This way!" He took her hand and ran out of the grave and into the forest. "You can't get away," the voice floated around them as they ran. Mulder had no idea how he knew which way to go, he just did. They soon saw the lights of the house through the trees. Mulder tripped over a log just four feet from the edge of the forest. The woman appeared in front of them. Scully had fallen over Mulder. "You have to die," the woman said. A few partiers were outside playing in the rain and saw the commotion. They ran inside leaving them alone. "You have to die, now." A long sharp blade reflected the light from the house onto Mulder's face. His eyes grew wide. The woman stepped closer and brought the sharp blade to his neck. They was a loud crack and a thump as the woman's body fell to the ground. Scully stood behind Mulder, holing a large piece of wood in one had and a piece of lead pipe in the other. Mulder looked back as the woman's body sank into the ground. Mulder stood up and ran toward the house leaving Scully to watch the body be swallowed by the mud. She soon came into the house, soaking wet and cold. "Omigod, Dana!" Anna cried. "What happened?" Scully stood in the hall dripping water on the carpet, stunned to silence. ":Dana? Dana, talk to me!" Anna shook her. "I-I-" Scully couldn't get the words out. "I just-" Beepbeepbeepbeepbeepbeep! ~*~*~ "Damn this alarm clock!" Scully reached over and turned off the alarm clock. The phone rang. She picked it up. "Hello?" "Dana? Are you ready for the Halloween party tonight?" Anna asked. Scully remembered her dream... the woman all pale and bloody.... "I think I'll pass." The End.
