Title: Wish You Were Here Summary: Mulder's still missing, Scully's in labor.... She looked over at her new partner. God how he annoyed her. He was so green and so boring, nothing like Mulder. He was assigned to her when he entered the F.B.I. They needed someone to keep an eye on her, like she couldn't handle herself. They were probably afraid that the poor pregnant woman would get hurt bending over or something. "Dana." She hated everything about him, including how he called her Dana. "are you okay?" "I'm fine, Frank. Just a little tired is all." "Well, you know, it would be fine with me if you wanted to go home early...." As Frank mumbled on Scully stood up in shock as she realized that her water had just broken. It couldn't be that time already! She was two weeks early! "FRANK SHUT UP!" she screamed. "What's wrong with you?!" he asked frustrated. "My water just broke." She stood up from behind Mulder's desk. "Will you please go get Assistant Director Skinner?" He ran over to her side and put his hand on her arm, which she smacked off immediately. "Okay, okay, I'm going!" "Thank you. He ran out of the room. "Asshole," she said under her breath. As Frank was getting Skinner she gathered her coat and emergency bag. She heard the elevator door open. "Scully?!" Skinner came running in the door. "I'm right here." He went to her side. "I just need someone to come with me to the hospital." "Of course, of course. Frank go tell my secretary that I am leaving for the day and to cancel all my other appointments." "Yes Sir." Frank looked overwhelmed. Skinner took Scully's arm and helped her out of the building and into a cab. "You know Scully, there is something I have to tell you." "Yes, please tell me that Frank is going to transferred to another department." She looked hopeful. "No, I think this is a little better, but I don't want you to get your hopes up, you know how many calls we've had." "Another Mulder sighting?" "Yeah, not far from where he disappeared. I don't know much about his status. I know that he's Mulder's height and has Mulder's hair color. I was going to find out more until Frank came and got me." "It's okay, probably not him anyway. I just want to focus on the baby right now." "That's understandable." They pulled into the emergency drive of the hospital. One nurse ran out with a wheelchair. "Mister Skinner?" He turned to Scully. "One of the perks of being in the F.B.I." She laughed and he helped her out of the car. Within 15 minutes Scully was hooked up to all the monitors and was already eating ice chips. Skinner was at her side holding her hand. "Do you already know the sex of the baby?" "No, I wanted to wait, I was hoping I would be able to find out with Mulder. The baby is half his, I just figured it wouldn't be right." She brushed aside a tear. "I see." 45 Minutes Later.... "WHERE's MY EPIDURAL?!?! Owwww!" "Scully, they are coming, give them a chance." Skinner was trying desperately to calm her. "SHUT The HELL UP!" she screamed. "I'm going to pretend I didn't hear that Agent Scully." He laughed and went to look for the nurse. 2 1/2 Hours Later.... "Okay Dana, one more time...are you ready?" "Yes." Skinner gripped her hand. "1...2...3 push!" All the nurses crowed around ready with towels and claps. "It's a girl!" The doctor held up the baby girl so Scully could see her. "She's beautiful," she said crying. "I really wish Mulder could of been here," she said turning to Skinner. "I know, we'll find him." She looked over and watched the nursed clean and weigh the baby. After they wrapped her the head nurse slowly brought the baby over and handed her to Scully. "Does this beautiful child have a name?" she asked. "Yes, Her name is Samantha." Scully smiled and kissed her baby on the forehead. "So what did I miss?" Scully looked up and started weeping, as Mulder walked into the room. "Hey Skin Man, looking good in those scrubs." Skinner hugged Mulder and stepped aside to watch the reunion. "Samantha eh?" Mulder sat down next to the bed and touched his baby's head. "Yes, I thought it would suit her," she said as he wiped her tears away. "Oh god I've missed you," she said smiling. "Not half as much as I missed you." He leaned over and kissed her quivering mouth. "I think I better make sure I plan my abductions less frequently from now on," he said smiling. The End
