Title: Saved Again Summary: What happened when Mulder arrived at Democrat Hot Springs and went inside to see Scully. When Mulder sees all the activity below, he tells the helicopter pilot to land here. Once on the ground, Mulder tells the pilot to wait. He gets out and starts towards the building. There are dozens of cars trying to leave. He tries to get someone to tell him where Scully is. The people in the vehicles completely ignore him. He is getting very frustrated, until he hears Agent Reyes call him. He turns and runs to her asking where Scully is. Reyes tells him that she's inside and that she needs a hospital. Mulder pauses with a very 'knowing' expression on his face. Thank God. She must be okay. I would never have forgiven myself if anything had happened to her. He turns and goes inside. When he enters the room, Scully's back is to him. She doesn't hear him come in. He just stands there and watches her. He watches as she coos and cuddles the baby. It is just about the most beautiful sight he's ever seen. He loves her so much and seeing her with the baby he knows she was meant to be a mother. She deserves to be a mother. He takes a couple more steps into the room. He must have made a noise because all of a sudden she turns around, expecting to see Agent Reyes. When she sees Mulder, her eyes fill with tears. She reaches her hand out to him, seemingly unable to get any words to come out of her mouth. He stops over closer and takes her hand. He just stands there, holding her hand for several minutes. "Mulder, I can't believe you're here!" she finally forces out. "I just had to see with my own eyes that you were okay." She looks down at the baby in her arms. "Isn't he beautiful?" "He certainly is." Mulder can't get over how deeply he feels this emotion. He never thought he was capable of anything even near this. Before he starts to cry himself, Mulder says, "Agent Reyes tells me you need to go to a hospital." She looks up at him questioningly. "Is it safe?" "They left without..." "Without what?" "I just realized I don't even know if it's a boy or a girl." :It's a boy, Mulder... your son!" He feels his tears rushing to the surface. He pushes them back and carries on. "Like I was saying, they left without him, didn't they?" "I know, but I'm still scared." "Scully, obviously he isn't what they thought he was. Right now we have to make sure that both of you are okay. I have a helicopter outside. I really think this is necessary." "Mulder, please!" Just take me home -- us home!" "Scully... please. You need to see a doctor." "If you find a doctor that you trust, I'll let them check us out." "Okay. I'll call the Gunmen. They'll find someone." Scully hears a noise. She looks towards the door. When she sees a stranger, she panics. She pulls the baby closer and moves closer to Mulder. The man at the door notices the fear in Scully's eyes. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to frighten you." Mulder puts his arm around Scully protectively. "It's okay, Agent Johnson," Mulder replies. Scully visibly relaxes. "I just came to tell you that I can't keep the chopper out there much longer." "Okay. I think we're ready. Come here for a moment, Johnson." Johnson walks over to where they are. Mulder tells him, "Take the baby out..." Scully cuts him off. "No one is taking this baby out of my sight!" She starts to cry. "Scully, he's okay. "I can't Mulder. I just can't!!" "Okay, okay! Don't get yourself all upset! How about Agent Reyes? Will you let her hold him?" "Y-y-e-e-a-h," she says hesitantly. "Johnson, ask Agent Reyes to come in here please." "Sure thing," he says as he turns and heads out the door. Mulder sits down beside her. "I know you're scared, Scully. I'm not going to let anything happen to either of you, I promise. Let's get ready so we can get out of here." She shakes her head affirmatively. "I've never been so scared before. I was so sure they were going to take him. Just then Agent Reyes walks in. "I understand you need my help in here." "Yes we do. Can you hold the baby while I help Scully get dressed." "No problem," she says as she comes over and takes him. "Don't be too hard on her, she's been through hell here." Mulder nods his head, acknowledging what she has said. "I won't let anything else happen to her I can assure you." Scully is very weak but they finally manage to get some clothes on. "Okay. I'm gonna carry you out to the chopper. Once we're in the chopper, you'll have him back, I promise." "Okay," she says as he bends to pick her up. Once they are in the chopper and Scully has the baby back, she is much more relaxed. "Thanks, Mulder. You saved me again," she says as she cuddles up to him and closes her eyes. With that the chopper takes off and they are on their way back to DC. The End
